January 5, 2014

Last fall we all fell in love with Taz, the little deaf white bulldog puppy with the cool eyebrow.  The sad story is that Taz crossed the Rainbow Bridge ways to soon:(   His owners were heartbroken, but when they found that Enzo (Taz's brother) was in need of a good home ~ they couldn't resist.  In his previous home, he had not been socialized with other dogs.  This means that he does not understand dog language, corrections from other dogs or how dogs play:(
On his first visit to the Dog Park there was a bit of an altercation.  His owner immediately pulled him and brought him to the Small Dog Park (it was not being used) with a few dogs he already knew.  This allowed him to understand that what he did was wrong while still being able to leave on a good note.  After this, his owner kept him on leash outside the Large Dog Park to enable him to watch (and hopefully) learn how dogs play.
It was really sweet to watch how the other dogs came up to greet him.  There were tons of tail wagging and nose touching ~ he was able to slowly and safely meet these other dogs.  I am looking forward to the day when he is also on the inside running and playing with all of the other dogs.
HUGE kudos to his owner for being responsible ...and a friendly REMINDER to all ~ the folks at the Dog Park have formed a community and we need to work together, offer constructive advise and have patience with others while they are training their dogs.
FYI ~ I am not talking about putting up with an aggressive dog whose owners are not being responsible.  I am not talking about the bully whose owner turns a blind eye.  I am talking about a puppy in need of socialization whose owner is taking it slow and being cautious.

Meet Forrest ~ Harper's (the shepherd above) new sibling.

This twig was the favored toy for the day!

Who can resist siblings at play!

Love watching a dog roll in the snow!

....but one needs to be careful of running dogs ...especially if said dog is camouflaged by the snow!

Little Forrest is all tuckered out ...while Harper is still going strong!

I can't resist telling the story of Moppet and his balls ~ note more than a few photos!

This is the same twig that was passed around from above.  Who needs toys when you have Mother Nature!
